How To Stay Workout Motivated This Winter

Bluefin how to stay motivated to work out during the winter

With the darker mornings and cooler temperatures drawing in, it’s always more challenging to motivate yourself to workout. The joy of going for a run before work on a sunny spring morning has long passed, and you now just want to roll right back over in bed. The phrase, ‘it’s cold out there, but it’s warm in bed’ is never more prevalent than it is in winter!

But don’t worry about lacking motivation to workout when the winter months start rolling in. At the end of the day, the most challenging part of exercising at this time of year is getting started! So today, we have a few tips on what you can do to make exercising in winter that little bit easier.

How To Get Motivated To Workout This Winter:

  1. Workout From Home

Shorter sunlight hours means that it’s usually dark before and after work, making heading outside or to the gym an even bigger task for us all. So why not consider working out at home? Aside from enabling you to fit in exercise when it suits you best, not venturing out into the cold and dark evening is, in general, an all-around safer choice.

Saying this, one challenge that you may face exercising at home is getting off the comfortable and warm embrace of the sofa. For this, we advise that you invest in home gym equipment that you know that you’ll love. In doing so, it’s much more likely that you’ll achieve your fitness goals as you’ll actually be looking forward to working up a sweat.

So while your best friend may swear that a heart-pounding spin session is perfect for them, it may not be for you! And that’s totally okay! Our workouts should be as personal and unique as our bodies. So if you’re on the lookout for that next best home gym equipment piece that will motivate you to jump on and get moving, you won’t go far wrong by checking out the Bluefin Fitness range: https://www.bluefinfitness.com, you’ll find there really is something for everyone!

  1. Know What Time Of The Day Works Best For You To Workout

Does getting out of bed on a cold morning to workout sound like pure dread to you? And if you then miss your morning workout, do you then regret it all day? Well, there’s no need to feel bad for missing it – so why not think about which time of the day is best for you to exercise instead? Is it mid-morning? Maybe a quick lunchtime blast? Before tea time. Or even while the food is cooking nicely in the oven! As I’ve mentioned, we are all unique, so our workouts and their timings should be individual for us too! It will make getting your workout started all that much easier!

Once you’ve figured out which time of day works best for you and your lifestyle, consider making small adjustments to your daily routine. For example, for morning workouts, could you set your heating timer to come on before you wake up so that it isn’t quite so cold when you get out of bed? Maybe for lunchtime workouts, you’ve already prepped your lunch the night before, so you get more time working out and can eat your food at the side of your desk. And for some of us, getting your gym gear out and ready for a quick change is motivation enough to get you out there!

  1. Set Goals For Yourself

Another great way to ensure you get your workout in is to set physical goals for yourself. From in-depth training plans to specific distances achieved on the treadmill, the more specific your goals and the more structured your workout plans are, the more likely you’ll achieve them. In other words, get focused on what you want to achieve, get a plan in place on how you’re going to achieve it, and you’re already halfway there!

If you need some additional encouragement to get you turning on your home gym equipment, then remember how great it feels when your endorphins are running high at the end of your workout! No matter how much you’ve exercised, moving your body will always make you feel great! And not only that, the mental health benefits of taking some time for yourself, leaving the day behind and reducing your stress levels are particularly worth it in the winter months!

Self-care is an essential part of working out, so remind yourself how incredible you’ll feel after you finish, and maybe even consider treating yourself afterwards too! Nothing says ‘Well Done Me’ better than a hot bubble bath and Netflix to relax and rest those tired muscles!
