Bluefin beginner spin class

Low impact and super effective at building muscle, spin bikes are a hugely popular home fitness option. Allowing you to experience all the benefits of cycling without leaving the house, the workout possibilities are virtually endless.

But jumping into a beginner spin class can feel a little overwhelming, especially if you don’t have much experience using a spin bike. Not to mention knowing which model to invest in!

In this blog, you’ll discover all there is to know about both our exercise bikes. We’ll also outline a simple beginner spin class to get started with, specifically designed to be enjoyed from the comfort of home.

Beginner Spin Class – The Bike You Need

Investing in a professional, high-quality spin bike is crucial. Reliability and performance are essential for home gym equipment, and both our spin bikes deliver both with ease.

Tour 5.0

The Tour 5.0 is great for beginners. Complete with 12 built-in training programs, you can experiment with different at-home beginner spin class ideas to discover which suits you best. You can also manually adjust resistance yourself too, with 24 different levels to choose from. This allows you to create your very own custom workout as you pedal.

Featuring a 12kg flywheel with silent drive, the magnetic braking facility ensures safe stopping every time. The attached backlit fitness display provides accurate time readings, as well as distance cycled, pulse rate, and calories burnt. This means you’ll always be in-the-know when tracking progress.

There’s also a handy tablet holder too, so you can utilise an integrated smartphone app to take your spin workouts to the next level. But more on that in a moment!

Tour SP

Featuring all the qualities we love about the Tour 5.0, the Tour SP is a little more advanced. Great for beginners with designs on making a spin bike their primary trainer, the Tour SP offers greater heavy-duty performance.

Equipped with a 25kg flywheel as opposed to 12kg, a heavier flywheel can provide a range of added benefits. Able to deliver a more natural, smoother cycling experience with higher intensity, the Tour SP reduces the chance of choppy movements when speed is altered. This could decrease your chance of possible injury when out of the saddle during a beginner spin class.

No matter which of our exercise bikes you choose, you’re guaranteed to feel safe and comfortable. And to further enhance their spin potential, they’re both compatible with one of the most innovative smartphone apps in fitness.

You can also challenge your friends in multiplayer mode, share progress, and even take part in real-time coaching sessions. With plenty of spin classes and cycling routes to choose from, Kinomap can help you make the most out of your spin bike.

Easy Beginner Spin Class

As with starting any form of exercise, slow and steady wins the race. Throwing yourself into the deep end not only increases your chance of injury, but may cause your motivation to drop. Starting with workouts too advanced for your current fitness level could result in disaster before you’ve even begun.

As a result, a beginner spin class should focus on low resistance, and moderate revolutions per minute (RPM). With this in mind, here’s a quick beginner spin class outline to try.

Begin pedalling at a relatively low intensity (60-70rpm) for at least 5 minutes to warm-up.

Higher intensity (90rpm): 1 – 2 minutes

Medium intensity (80rpm): 5 minutes

Repeat twice over, and finish with a further 5 minutes of low intensity pedalling.

Super simple but ideal for your first few spin sessions, this workout is the perfect introduction to indoor cycling. And if you feel you can increase intensity for longer, go for it! There are no rules when it comes to workouts, so feel free to customise to suit your progress and abilities.
All bikes will feature slightly different resistance mechanisms too. Therefore, specific levels may correspond to different resistance grades depending on which model you have. Try playing around with your bike’s resistance, and identify the levels that suit you best. And as our Tour 5.0 features an impressive 24 levels, you’ll have plenty of options to experiment with.

Beginner Spin Class Videos

Whilst you’re guaranteed to find a huge selection of cycling trails and spin classes on Kinomap, trusty Youtube is also full of brilliant beginner spin class videos to use at home. With trained instructors talking you through every step of the way, you’ll never feel you’re cycling alone.

And remember, you can easily customise resistance and pedalling speed to suit your fitness ability. A lot of online videos may appear a little more advanced than our above beginner spin class outline. But listen to your body and reduce speed or resistance if you feel you need to.

Here are some great options to try.

So, if you were on the fence about trying a spin bike, we hope this has helped! A beginner spin class is super easy to achieve at home, especially with the right smartphone apps and videos by your side.

Both our exercise bikes have been carefully constructed to both look and feel like professional gym equipment. No matter which you choose, you can kickstart your fitness journey with a huge range of indoor cycling possibilities ahead.
